The Operations Manager is a key member of staff leadership at TKU. This position will be responsible for overseeing and managing multiple aspects of the organization to maximize organizational procedures and guide growth. This individual reports directly to the Executive Director. They will work closely with the Executive Director along with the Development and Education teams to help the organization carry out its mission by establishing and sustaining operations and infrastructure to support current and new program initiatives. They should be organized, strategic and data-driven and care deeply about enriching the lives of neurodiverse students. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader who is excited about joining a small team on the verge of immense growth.

TKU is hiring a full-time Director of Education to lead TKU’s expanding and innovative educational offerings and all in-person programming. The Director of Education will manage an online learning program coordinator, a work-based learning coordinator and share a program associate with the ED. This person must be based in NYC, have extensive experience teaching computer science principles and digital media skills, and have experience working with youth and teens.
As a result of COVID-19, TKU pivoted to offer all of its programming online. The silver lining of this period has been the extended reach and impact of TKU’s programs on national and international students. Moving forward, TKU’s programs will be a hybrid of on-line and in-person offerings and the Director of Education will be responsible for a full portfolio of programming, and duties that include oversight of all teaching, learning and youth/teen activities, curriculum development and review, hiring and onboarding teaching staff, and more. TKU’s current programs include: multiple daily, after school and Sunday student workshops, career development programs for teens and young adults, special events and initiatives, parent workshops and educational partnerships. The Director of Education will work closely with leadership and external partners to expand the TKU learning community to ensure that programs represent best practices in education for neurodiverse students (students with autism, ad(h)d, learning and emotional challenges). The ideal candidate will be a highly organized educator, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be passionate about pedagogy, digital literacy, and technology education, with a willingness to learn from and be inspired by TKU’s students and community.

Tech Kids Unlimited is an award-winning non-profit education organization dedicated to providing tech education for neurodiverse individuals ages 7 to 24 with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, executive processing, and other learning/emotional differences. Teachers create curriculum and teach technology and digital media arts workshops on a variety of topics to neurodiverse youth, teens, and young adults. Topics include Graphic Design, Coding, Game Design, Music Production, Video Editing, and more. Ideal candidates will be multidisciplinary. Teachers are trained and supported by the Education Director to complete work with neurodiverse learners and develop curriculum following TKU’s pedagogical model. Teachers must have previous teaching experience.

The Social Worker will assist students with social and emotional support during workshops. Social Workers may work one-on-one with students as-needed to address social and emotional needs that arise during the workshop. Social Workers will be responsible for taking attendance and contacting parents/guardians about unexpected absences, conflicts, incidents and other concerning student behaviors or interactions during workshops. Social Workers will keep a log of student information related to support needs and behaviors to enable the workshop team to provide tailored support to learners. They will be asked to share insights with families at the end of the summer for students who enroll in many workshops

Tech Counselors assist with students’ tech needs in the classroom. Students learn programming such as Graphic Design, Coding, Game Design, and more. Tech counselors will use their expertise to help the teacher and keep students engaged. Tech counselors should be kind and patient, but no experience working with children or neurodiverse students is required, although a plus. Opportunities to teach and be involved with more programming possible in the future.
Counselor Rate: $22 per hour
Candidates with teaching experience may be eligible for the Assistant Teacher Role. Assistant Teachers are responsible for reviewing the curriculum before class and being prepared to teach in the event the teacher is unable to lead the class.
Assistant Teacher Rate: $25 per hour.
As per the requirements listed by NYU where TKU programs are held, all TKU employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including booster vaccination) against COVID-19, to upload proof of their vaccination to NYU's portal, and to have that vaccination documentation accepted by NYU.
